A visit to Tamborine Mountain is not complete without time spent in the Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens, where tropical meets temperate. A stand of taxodium (swamp cypress) greets visitors before they discover clivias, fuchsias, wind anemones, magnolias, camellias and so many other beauties. Stroll along the Cherry Tree Walk. These trees are the gift of the Gifu Sakura no Kai (Japan) – group that aims to promote a spirit of co-operation, peace and international exchange. Opened in December 1988, the Botanic Gardens are developed and maintained by the Tamborine Mountain Club Inc. with weekly working bees and fundraising. The major fundraiser is the annual ‘Springtime on the Mountain’ Flower and Garden Festival which attracts in excess of 4,000 visitors.
